A Matter of Balance (Fall Prevention)

A Matter of Balance is an eight session group program that uses a variety of activities to address factors affecting fear of falling and to teach fall prevention strategies. The activities include group discussion, problem-solving, skill building, assertiveness training, videos, sharing practical solutions and exercise training. Each of the sessions is two hours in length, including a break for light refreshments.  For more detailed information on A Matter of Balance, please click here.

NCOA’s Fall Prevention Programs video

The National Council on Aging created this video as an overview of several evidence based programs offered nation wide. The video team visited Hendersonville and Asheville to take footage of programs in action. Click to see North Carolina community members featured!

NC Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) offer many evidence-based programs with the federal funding support of the Older Americans Act; therefore, AAAs cannot charge for the classes supported by these funds. There is no limit to the number of classes that a participant can take through the AAA. Depending on the funding source, classes listed on our website are offered at low or no cost.
